It Wasn'y a Deliusion

Scene of my top favorite Natsume Yuujinchou episode, To The Ephemeral Ones.Natsume Takashi remembers a moment of his childhood, back when he was having a fever in a foster house, and the wood knots of the ceiling seemed to gain life. He thought it was a delirium, but actually it was a youkai (or ayakashi) whom healed him, under the excuse that, if the kid died, he “wouldn’t have anybody to scare.”   One of the most touching things I find in the anime is when Takashi remembers his sad past and realizes that not all the creatures that haunted his childhood meant harm. A few actually wanted to help him, but didn’t know how.

I like how the woodgrain helps me see the creature's movement.

I studied many wood textures to make it. The illustration didn't get as good as I expected (the curtains are kind of crooked), but I'm proud of the creature. Smile

Nice work on the wood textures. It creates a nice rhythm in the piece.

Thanks. I spent months studying all the kind of wood I could find, just to make this piece. Smile
