In the Meadow...

Posted Dec 14, 2005, 5:53:47 AM UTC
Mental note to self: Do NOT do any more of these "involved" drawings anymore. At least not for a while. Now that that's out of the way...
I have been working on this pic for about 4 days now. I kept changing or adding things to it as I went along and I finally reached a point where I decided enough is enough.  And here is the end result. I think I was inspired to draw this based from MiniMaid's pic of the Autumn Fae and Zacula's pic that he did. Who can resist the adorable Narnia-type goat people? :)  The hardest part was getting the poses right (even with reference pics). I hope they look balanced enough. Well, I am leaving it in your hands now guys. Let me know what you think. Much love. ^_^

*giggles* Why thank you so much sweetheart. You always make me smile. You really do. You are always so sweet to me. ^^ I am so honored to know you. Now then... I am so glad that you like this picture. I worked my butt off on it. Really really. I now have no butt. Laughing I completely took my time on it and spent about 4 days (off and on of course) working on it. I am trying to fix any problems in my drawings now before I post them. I was inspired by a couple of artists who are so wonderfully gifted especially with drawing fantasy and I wanted to try my hand at it. I think this one is the most special to me because I put my heart and soul into it. And knowing that my one little drawing can make people feel like they are somewhere enchanted is enough to make me the happiest person in the world. So I guess I will dedicate this picture to everyone who has ever daydreamed about these kinds of places when they were children. All my love and kissies back to you. Mwah!

Thank you so much Chas. I can always count on you to bring a smile to my face. And guess what? This one is going to be on some merchandise in the store here. Isn't that cool? I am not quite sure what kind of story I would write for it though. They all look as if they are bored off their a*ses. Laughing We should go and chase them all and scare the crap out of them. Don't know why. Just something to ease the boredom. Well, it was a thought anyway. Smile Much love. ^_^

Thank you Kim. Sorry I haven't been around much lately. My little one is sick and I have been so busy with stuff around here. I really haven't been on-line much at all lately. Sad Hopefully by this weekend things will be smoothed out and I will be able to devote more time to everyone. Much love.

You're incredible artist Kristy. Good job on the shading too and the light, bravo!A most fav...

Thank you so very much Lisi. I am totally beaming with pride on this one. I think it is definitely the best that I have done so far and I am anxious to get started on a new one soon. But this one I really took my time on and paid extra attention to all of the little details in it to make it look good. I had to make sure I had the hands looking right and make sure they all had feet the way they are supposed to be. Laughing I tend to give my people two of the same feet. >_< I still have a ways to go on my shading. I need to make it more subtle, but I am on my way. Thank you so much for all of your love and support. All my love to you.
      • Dec 16, 2005, 5:31:08 AM UTC
You sure are on your way...i think its going pretty awesome! All the detail you put in it, it shows the work you did. The grass looks so real and the leaves behind! I truly love this piece! Mwah Kristy, much love! Smile
  • Dec 14, 2005, 8:27:26 AM UTC
WOW!WOW!WOW!WOW!WOW! Did I mention WOW? Grin It looks breathtaking!!!! You have truely created a master piece!! Was this the pic you said you were working on a few days ago???? HOLY SMOKES!!! All that detail must have killed your hands, I had to bust out my reading glasses so I could take it all in Doh I really dislike the things but seeing it perfectly was most worth it Grin Heart LOTS OF LOVE 2 You and hugs and cheers and Worship and all other forms of praise that I can't think of just this second!!!!!!!
    • Dec 14, 2005, 10:51:38 AM UTC
Thank you so so much my dear. And yep... this is the one I was telling you about a few days ago. I fianlly got it finished. And yes, my hands are wroked to the bone. Laughing I think this is the best background I have ever done in my life. That grass alone was a pain. >_< But I wanted to make sure I did my very best. I didn't want to rush anything. I wanted to make this my best yet. That is kind of my thing now. Trying to go above and beyond my previous drawings. And this is one I am DEFINITELY proud of. I still need to work on getting my shading a little more subtle than this, but I am slowly getting there. Thank you so much for all of your praise. I hope the wait for this one was worth it. Smile All my love to you. Mwah! ^_^
      • Dec 14, 2005, 12:31:09 PM UTC
The wait was most definitely worth it Yes This is on the Favs!!! "Above and beyond previous drawings" SWEET!!! I'm REALLY looking forward to your next works (even more than I was already Laughing )
  • Dec 14, 2005, 7:30:50 AM UTC
This is absolutely beautiful sweetheart. O.O
I love the amount of detail you put into it and still managed to keep it all together without one thing taking away from the other. I love the girl in the center, there's so much grace to her, and I just love her expression. You put her together with the two kids next to her. You did the butterfly wings really well. Did you use reference? Anyhow I totally adore it my dear, I'm adding this to my faves. Love ya.Smile
    • Dec 14, 2005, 12:04:30 PM UTC
Thank you so very much Maria. I think that was one of the more difficult aspects of this drawing. Making them all have their different values so they didn't take away from each other and trying to make the characters live in perfect harmony with the background. I had to figure out which parts of the grass needed to be darker and lighter so as not to draw the eye down to the bottom of the page away from the characters, and for the leaves, I had to make sure I changed things up with those so they wouldn't blend in together... arrrggg! There is so much to remember when trying to achieve balance in a drawing. Especially one that has such an involved background like this. I did use references for a couple of the poses. Just to see exactly what should go where in the different poses. I used reference for the large fairy and the satyr. But the others were drawn from trial and error. LOL I did use reference for the butterfly wings. The good thing about butterfly wings is that if you draw them once, it is easy to remember how to draw them again. They are not too terribly difficult to do. Thank goodness. I am so happy that you really like it. I am trying to challenge myself now to catch the things that are wrong before I post now. I want to start making my drawings look awesome. Not just good. So thank you for noticing my hard work. That means so much to me. All my love to you. mwah!

Oh wow hun!! Great job!! You did so wonderful on this!!! I love it, it has to be the best of your work so far!! I can't really take time to really look at a right now because I am in school right now in the library for class, and we are suuposed to be working on some stupid summaries, but whatever. That is boring and I can do that at home while I am talking to you. Laughing Ok, well great job, and great job, I absolutely love it.

oh be careful sweetheart. Don't get in trouble. I am so happy that you like it. I am quite proud of it myself. And that grass was really a pain in the a*s to do. That damn grass took me a little over an hour to get just right. I didn't want to rush anything in it. When I do that I always end up with something looking wrong with it. >_< But thank you for your wonderful compliments hun. You always are so loving and kind to me. All my love to you. mwah! ^_^ (And I will be waiting to talk to you on-line. Yes )
      • Dec 14, 2005, 7:10:55 PM UTC
Oh dont worry, my biology teacher is really stupid (not even going to put it nicely). He wont say anything. And all your hard effort sure did come in handy!! Well buh bye!! mhua!! (and where were you?? You weren't on like you said you would be... Sad)

        Love

Sorry sweetie. I got roped into going to help my mom clean my grandparent's house. I hate cleaning. >_< Anyway, I just sent you a message on MSN, so I'll wait and see if you respond. there you are. LOL And I am glad that everyone likes this one. I am going to be putting it in the PD store. So that will be cool. I am quite proud of it. I took my time and didn't rush anything on it. Yay! All my love. mwah! ^_^

Sweetheart, this is magnificent! I LOVE the poses - all four of them. And those leaves! You paid so very much attention to detailing in this, and it really shows. What a beautiful piece... Thank you for sharing it with us darling! I could look at it for ages.

PS - I'm sorry I haven't been around much. I'm afraid I'm going to remain absent for a while... Probably until after Christmas. These cards are time consuming, and I"m not getting much time off work. *sigh* oh well. It will all come together in the end. Much love!

of course it will come together in the end. Just keep your chin up. Smile I completely understand the reasons for your absence sweetie. And I will continue to wait patiently for you and then welcome you back with open arms. I wish I could be a fly on the wall to see Jon's face when he gets those cards. He will love them.
Thank you so much for your wonderful compliments on this drawing of mine. I am so glad that my dedication to this one is noticable. I have been working really hard lately (especially on this one in particular) and trying to catch all of the "mishaps" before I post. I wanted to challenge myself to actually do an awesome background for this. Not just a good one. But a great one because I want to be able to make art that people can't take their eyes off of. That is what I strive for. And when my hard work is noticed by others, it is an awesome feeling. I am filled with pride and a new self-respect because I feel like I can do more than just be a mother and a housekeeper or whatever. You know? So thank you for all of your praise and for always helping me to become the best that I can. Not as good as someone else, but as good as I can be. All of my most sincere love and gratitude I give to you. Mwah! ^_^

Wink I know, as I have already told you. You are doing wonderfully darling. Keep it up - don't lose that inspiring determination!

And yeah - things are beginning to pull together, as they always do. It's just taking a little loss of sleep and some late nights. Wink

Wow this is really good. I really like the main girl's expression. This is really inspiring artwork. I feel the need to draw now haha. Would you be interested in selling prints of this in the PD store?
    • Dec 14, 2005, 11:24:49 AM UTC
Susie... I cannot even begin to express how much that means to me coming from you. I always get so much inspiration from your artwork, so to hear that kind of compliment is truly amazing. Smile And I would love to put this on the store. I just need to know the guidelines and whatnot for it. Is there some info for it in any of the forums or anything? Just let me know and I will be more than happy to put it in the store. Yes Now, you should go and draw some more of those amazing pictures of yours that everyone falls in love with. You are truly an inspiration to all of us here. Much love. ^_^
      • Dec 14, 2005, 4:07:38 PM UTC

        Time to draw!
        • Dec 14, 2005, 7:45:07 PM UTC
Thanks hun. Smile Yeah, I found the guidelines for it when I was checking out Mallie's new stuff there. That is usually how it goes for me. I ask questions before I look into things. Then I feel awkward. Laughing Ah well. Much love. ^_^
  • Dec 13, 2005, 11:06:28 PM UTC
Fantastic! I like the variety of characters and their sizes. The little fellows coat is very cool. The diffrence in each of their poses is great too. These involved pics of your have turned out wonderful each one a beauty. As much as I like the pics of yours that are just characters I am more fond of these with backrounds just because you do an excellent job with them. Again it's fantastic and I'm looking forward to what you turn out next, involved or not. Smile
    • Dec 14, 2005, 10:33:55 AM UTC
Awww Zac... what you said almost made cry. I am such a girl. Smile I was so inspired by your last drawing, that I decided I wanted to do something fantastical. And I am working my butt off to improve my realism skills. And actually to improve my backgrounds. So it really means alot to me that you can see that. I am still trying to get better at shading though. Though this shadng I have done is the lightest I have ever done, it should still be more soft. It should be a little more subtle than what it is. Ah... we are our own worst critics, no? Smile I will get there eventually. Thank you so much for the kind review. You made my day brighter. Yes ^_^
