Character reference sheet for Kukuri and Draco Stryx handler

Name: Deshret

Age: 25

Species: Khemetian, aka. Shu beast

Appearance:  Bipedal desert dwelling marsupial with four arms, and a long tufted tail.  Sagittal horns, forked in front and a spike behind, are gently curved back towards a large triangular bright orange-red crest of stiff hair.   (Males and females have no easily visible external difference, except brightness of their head crest.)

Gender:  Male dominant hermaphroditemale male female {amazonite}  He/him

Personality: Intelligent, forthright and fun-loving, Deshret is also heroic, sentimental and leaderly.  His dashing character usually hides his habits of being a bit callous when dealing with "outsiders".   His sometimes uncaring and superficial tendencies can cause problems with personal interactions.  Fortunately his fun-loving nature is usually there to soften the blows.

Symbol: Raised Kopesh over a demi sun worked in gold or polished bronze on a red background

Education: Pastoral, animal husbandry, desert survival, military.

Origin, Allusions & Influences: Born in the desert, after the lion-folk purges killed his father and most of his mother's people, Deshret was raised as both farmer and warrior.  He is skilled with several weapons (at once), but prefers to grow pumpkins over seeking revenge.

Born as ambiguous hermaphrodites, each Shu beast develops differently as they grow.  some remain fully hermaphroditic.  Some develop one gender fully while the other sex atrophies. Some have both genders atrophy completely. All sexes raise young communally in pouches.

The Lion-folk despised the Shu as sexual deviants, and attempted to exterminate them in the name of their gods.  The survivors fled to the deepest desert where they have carved their community into secret sandstone canyons beyond the sand-sea.

Weapons: Bronze Khopesh,  Composite re-curve bow, copper headed mace, and copper curved dagger

Fighting Style: Sebekkah and Tahtib

This is a fascinating species, I like the quirks they have! So many people overlook how diverse and individual sexes/genders are in the animal kingdom (and beyond) and default to what is expected among humans, which deprives so much uniqueness from them. The color choices for this fellow are nice, they are earthy and neutral, which helps his crest and eyes really pop. The outfit is well thought out, it compliments his species' stature and anatomy and looks terrific.

One thing of note though, in the middle shot, his ear has a ring of paler... fur? Something in the ear there is pale, but it isn't present in the same ear in the clothed depiction. Either way, this race is cool, I hope to see more of them around here Smile

Ah, my attempt to depict the inner ear fluff without black lines. Should've been more consistent with that since this is a ref sheet.
Thanks so much for the comment.

Ah, I could see that. I think its a good way to go about it, it keeps the lines from being too heavy. No problem!
