The Swamp Market, only open in spring, when the adults return to the swamp to get their tadpoles back. The market stays open until the tadpoles leave the water.
When you are looking for something expecific you can ask the tadpoles swimming around, they will guide you to the boat with the item you are looking for, doing it, they get a snack reward from the male(the green one next to a bag with yellow food). The females are way bigger(the purple one) and they keep the money inside their throat(where nasty mucus is made!), they will accept money or itens, but if you want their money you actually need to ask for a ''money scroll'' because their money is covered in mucus(the few brave souls that even tried to steal didnt had a good death).
Later you can trade the scrolls for actual money in the Bank Boat(a big boat with the elders who dont lay eggs anymore), and dont worry about thieves, all scrolls have your name and the frog name.
Depending on your bag color, you cant trade with some boats. If you are new to the market you get the blue one, if its not the first time you get a yellow one, while the red one are for people more experienced.
Using a blue one,the frogs know you are new and will be okay if you do mistakes like asking for money instead of the of the scrolls, or even asking if they have the item you are looking for(if a tadpole guided you to the boat they have it!). Meanwhile some frogs dont have the patient for new people(or get ofended easly) and will refuse a trade with a blue bag(sometimes even with the yellow bags!)
They are so nasty that even after their death the body needs to be burned(not even Karma want anything with them) because nothing want to eat the body(not even scavengers!) Meanwhile, the tadpoles are absolute delicious to land creatures.
They will lay the eggs in the later summer, the females will keep them inside her throat until late autumn when the tadpoles hatch and are realeased before the swamp freeze. The tadpoles will grow in winter feeding on algae and smaller critters.
In spring when the market opens, the adults return to adopt the tadpoles and share their nasty mucus with them. Because of it, there is a boat wich takes cares of any dead tadpoles, removing the nasty mucus and serving them was a a morbid, yet, tasty barbecue(nothing is wasted every part will be processed and cooked). Its need to be done, otherwise the body will rotten and will pollute the swamp.
The females keep the money inside the throat not to keep it safe, but to strech the skin, and thus, having room for more eggs. They have a saying ''Coins are lighter than eggs'' meaning they valued life above money.
Do yo have any plans to keep these fellows in your future works? The culture building is enjoyable
Usually I do use them again(the market, problaly next spring, or mentions in descriptions/''npcs'' walking in cities)
I look forward to seeing more of your work
