Many of the captive Aqrion were aware of their cacptivity. Some were not.
As many of those aware were locked away behind the scenes or on display, some lucky ones were free to roam the drained castle grounds and the flooded gardens. This particilair Abyssel loves the gardens and chooses to be here often. He can escape, swim into the fast world outside, but he doesn't. He doesn't know that he can be free, neither does he know he is unfree.
For now he knows he is alive, and that nothing can really hurt him. And that is enough, for now.

I'm trying to work more on a depth perception, but that is very difficult. Very much underestimated it ><. Don't know how you (yes you) do that! Specifically thinking of this one: https://www.paperdemon.com/app/art/view/41482

He is inspired by a spirit from a book I once read about a seas spirit washing ashore during a storm and becoming friends with a lonely girl. It's a childrens story, but very heartwarming.
