Look. I forgot how to draw. AGAIN. -_-
At some point I want to establish an actual artstyle for me, but all these long breaks are... not helpful. I keep asking myself how to do basic things.
I do like these sketchy, kinda speedpainty backgrounds I did a while ago, but I also feel like I lost it again in my most recent pictures (getting to "clean" again with my art, I guess). They just don't feel right. I'm trying to take a step backward and more sketchy again. Maybe this will make things better, I'm not sure.
This is a simple test picture. Doing sketchy again and purposefully avoid heavy blending (and thus the wet plastic look) to see how it goes.
As much as I struggle with shading, the light parts in this turned out kinda nice. The dark ones... not really xD
The rest was a bit of a coloring experiment. More often than not, it feels like the characters are completely foreign and artifical objects in a picture. Which I guess has a lot to do with the "color picking" from their ref sheets. Which chauses them to fit neither the overall pictures, nor the other ambient colors. With this one I tried to do a less opaque coloring, allowing more of the background color to show through and hopefully pull this thing together.
