I had a dream

Smolder woke up, startled, drifting in the lagoon. The water had lulled him asleep and the warmth was welcoming for his sore and tense muscles. He yawned, looking up at the surface of the water. Sunlight was shining through and his darker toned upper body soaked it up like a sponge. He could already feel the sticky green algae on his scale, drawn in by the constant heat.

Smolder shook himself, kicking his tail and flippers, and swam to the surface. He felt odd, waking up from a vivid dream, and breaking the surface did not really help. The air hitting his face felt off, like it came from worlds away and has lost it’s strength during it’s travels. The sky wasn’t as beautiful as in his dreams. The liquid blue was gone, and so were the stars, and the moon.

The moon.

There was something about that moon. It wasn’t a moon. It was the tail light of an abyssal, if he remembered correctly. An abyssal so tall he stood over the mountain ridge, his shadow falling over Smolder, encasing him. He didn’t remember it as menacing, he felt protected by the abyssal, like it was in sky looking over the earth. Watching, waiting, learning.

Smolder made his way towards the edge lagoon, where trees were standing tall and throwing there shade over the edge of the water. He stranded himself in between trees, where the current was still fast enough to provide him with enough air, but slow enough to lull him back to sleep.

How can someone be so tired of a dream?

When Smolder was about to drift off again, something hit his snout. He opened one eye and looked straight into three pair of eyes, looking at him patiently. It was a young, small abyssal, about the size of a single flipper. It was white, almost translucent, like it just broke the egg. There were no flippers to be found on its body, only an elongated tail and e pair of arms. The hands were outstretched, and slowly but surely they found a hold on Smolders snout. The eyes were glazed over, but Smolder could feel something familiar radiate from them.

The creature was watching. Waiting. Learning…

Couldn't choose between trails and I somehow managed to combine several in my head and make this? So I'm not really sure if it count's as a trail for ARPG puproses... But it gave me this creazy idea and inspiration to create this piece, which turned out better then I hoped! I adore these two very much!

Showing in front Smolder, and in the back Papei (Also known as Ori)
