I just finished reading "Animal Farm". Needless to say I was inspired to draw some farm animals. Living in the country, I was not short of models. ^^ They aren't really meant to be the actual characters. Just something I doodled while sitting outside in the cool breeze. (which I was thankful for.)
I like the way the pig turned out, but the horse is another story. I can't put my finger on it, but something looks off. Anyway, I figured if I can't draw human figures, I'll draw animals in the mean time.
I love this! I've lived around a farm for a while, and know where you're coming from. I think the horse's muzzle is a bit short; they're normally pretty long with an elaborated 'scoop' where the mouth is. Other than that, I love the movement you've achieved and the beauty of it all; very nice! (The mane is perfect!)

Very nice drawings. The pig and roach look so realistic. I don't wanna know HOW you drew the roach- I freak out around bugs, even if they're harmless. The horse looks terrific, but the nostrils make the face un-proportioned. Like I said earlier: nice drawings.
Don't ask me WHY I drew that ugly bug. *yuck!* It just sort of popped into my head. ^^ And you don't usually see a roach crawling around a barn yard, but I decided to draw anyway.
Oh I wish I could go to the farm to sketch. You are right about that pig. It looks pretty good. I think what you need to work on is thinking less about line and more about form. I just discovered a really good drawing book that is essentially the same figure drawing methods that Sheldon Borenstein teaches at my school. It's called Figure Drawing without a Model by Ron Tiner. You should get it and study it.
