Sky Mage Evix

Element: Sky
    At will, Evix is able to manifest a quick wind or some fog. With a little effort they can use a stiff breeze to lift items at a distance into their hand or move the air in ways that create sound. They are just starting to learn magic for more potent effects. Some of their favorites are effects that help them get around without notice, or elude unwanted followers. Either with sigils or with words, they've begun to experiment with mirages made out of mist, not precise enough to trick an observer directly, but enough to make them question when seen out of the corner of their eye.
===== ===== =====
    A blue scrub jay slowly walked down a dark stony tunnel. Their cloak of stars warding against the cool breeze that ventured through periodicly from the entrance not too far back. The only source of light along the path was moon globes that dotted the path, shedding their dim light acoss the space. It was quiet; Evix could hear each tap of their talons on the stone floor as they continued deeper and deeper. They had just escaped some unsavory individuals and needed a place to hide. Fortunately some of that sky magic they had started to discover created a cloud, masking the entrance. Hopefully that would give the jay a bit more time. The bird was not yet sure if the magic taking effect was something of their own making, a manifestation of their wishes and willpower, or some sort of friendly wind spirit that has taken interest in them. Regardless, they were thankful for getting the bird out of some sticky situations.
    The old tunnel the bird ventured down appeared to be no catacomb and appeared to be no dungeon. It went on far too long with no sign of prison cells or coffins for the deceased. As they breathe slowly to not make too much noise, they can smell the dust that has settled; this place seems to not have been used for ages. Maybe this was some sort of secret passageway long forgotten since eons past? The curiousity of asking, "What is this?" would not quit ticking in the back of the avian's mind, not like they had any intention of going back at the moment.

   Ahead of them, the bird can start to see what seems to be a metal gate. "Well, now here's something. Hopefully it's unlocked?" the bird questions as they reach forward and give the door a firm push. The gate resists. They try pulling next, struggling with no success. "Well... so much for that" they say to themself, looking over the gate for any sort of clues on how to get through. Reaching their hand through for any sort of handle to open it, they do not find what they are looking for. However, one of their feathers does sink into an indent. A keyhole, the bird quickly concludes. A quick searh past the gate did not immediately reveal anything however, as the bird taps their foot on the floor, a stray wind seems to come out of nowhere dusting off a key. "Well thank you very much" Evix still wasn't sure if the wind was just deciding to be helpful or if it was magic of their own, but they appreciated it nonetheless.
"Ok, now I just gotta get it into my- nnngh hand" They reach through, grunting a but as they try, but it remains clearly far out of their reach. "Alright alright. Hmm... maybe I can try that thing again?" They stand back from the door and take a deep breath. They feel the air passing in and out of their lungs, their bones, their avian air sacks, feeling the air around them. Slowly, the air starts to swirl around the key, moving around and round. Evix looks at it and with a quick flick of their wrist, it flies past the bars. Though, it flies so quickly that they are barely able to grab.
"Aaaand that's a success. Wooh, I can really get used to this" They smile, chirping chipperly to themself, now unlocking the gate with ease and walking through. They lock the gate againbehind them just in case and return they key back to where they found it on the floor. If this was an escape tunnel, they did not want to prevent anyone from using it in an emergency after all. Though, putting another obstruction between the bird and their persuers was much appreciated. Let's see if they could pull the same trick this bird just did. One talon in front of the other, they continue down the tunnel, wondering where this journey would lead them.

    Oooh I love the concept of tying visual and sound illusions into air magic! And a very cool story to go along with the art ^-^
