If pigeons are nicknamed "rats with wings", then surely phoenixes would be considered "flamethrowers with wings".
From the start of her destructive birth, Thalia's elemental power took the form of fire. Down to her very physiology, fire is a big aspect of her life and being. In fact, it has an influence on her behavior and lifestyle as well, as if she were made of fire herself. For instance, she can't swim, and rain weakens her powers. She eats anything a fire would like to eat, if it were sentient. Dry twigs, gasoline, metallic sodium, phosphorus, coal, and matches are some examples of weird "foods" that she considers edible. She can also eat normal food including things such as seeds, grain, and bacon (anything dry, flammable, or easily burnt...including toast!) Wet foods, on the other hand, make her sick. So, sadly, she cannot experience the joy of tasting icecream.
Setting stuff ablaze is as natural of a defense as throwing punches at the first hint of danger. That's why, when some supernatural poacher witches showed up one night to harvest feathers as an ingredient for one of their potions (without even asking!), Thalia made sure they were are crisp as a burnt thanksgiving dinner. She would be nobody's spicy fried chicken.
So far, some of her elemental abilities include:
-Fire-based Immortality (She can grow weak, get sick, and die just like any mortal. The only difference is that she can respawn if the conditions are right)
-Spontaneously combusting (She can set herself on fire at will too though)
-Breathing fire like a flamethrower
-Spreading fire via feathers (The wings, tail, and crest are the hottest areas of her plumage. Her feathers may still be very hot even if they aren't on fire, so caution is advised when hugging!)

The details of her fiery sustenance are so fun ^-^ I wonder, would she be able to eat astronaut dehydrated space ice cream?
