'Idiots. I'm surrounded by idiots.... I have to protect them.'

Before he discovered magic, before he discovered portals, Luis was a factory dog. An engineer, home-grown like his father. His homeportal didn't have magic, nothing that would expedite labor nor lessen the burden of fixing it. (Werewolves, sure, but we're not talking about that.) He, much like the others, had to depend on logically-driven methods. Common-sense. If only it weren't in such short supply. This has always been Luis' unshakable belief: the belief in the incompetance and apathy of others. 'How was he the only one that gave a crap?'
The only one stopping the average fool from wandering into a live machine was Luis alone. He had to be in control of the situation at all times. Authority and respect were his tenants. Safety and idiot-proofing. It didn't matter the reputation that followed. He made sure everyone was aware of this fact, engaging complete strangers in ideological warfare.
Luis wasn't here to make friends, he was here to protect those too dumb to protect themselves... The poor kid.
