Ok... I'd been studying the old Flemish Baroque paintings when I drew this, and the one thing that really caught me was the use of tenebrist light. So, this is my little attempt at that, an elf holding a fallen star. Done with pencil and silver metallic colored pencil on black paper.
Well, the Baroque was the art movement after the Renaissance... and tenebrist light was a style developed by Carravaggio which became really popular in the Baroque. It's essentially a really powerful light source coming from one direction. A candle or lamp, in many Flemish paintings of the time.

Ugh...n00b talk time. Er...tenebrist light? And...Baroque...it sounds familiar, but only vaguely.
