Thank you so much! Honestly I just think about where the light source is coming from and what areas of the character or subject are exposed to that light. Also studying how other artists do it helps a lot, gives a good idea on where to start.
Interesting. I guess it comes with practice. Have you ever thought of doing a piece of the northern lights? With your dramatic lighting it would be really pretty.
