Thats so bittersweet! I appreciate that he remains alive, but is no longer the person he once was - it must be so hard on her especially.
I imagine in this piece's case of fear, it must be a horrid feeling knowing that he died without Anev being able to repay his kindness. That's... Rough.
I hope she manages to find a cure soon :c
