I'm doing something with two characters, one behind the other, and I find turning down the Brightness and Contrast of the front character helps with getting position and proportion with the back character. Then when I need to have the front darker again I mess with the sittings of Brightness and Contrast.

My big dog is like 50# and she squirms.

I'm not sure what you mean by this, sorry. With the turning down the brightness contrast thing. Are you talking about seeing things as silhouettes?

I make the lines of the one character transparent enough that it dose not hinder the background character. Hope that makes since.
