So here is Eros, God of Love, Progenitor of the Universe (according to the Orphics) and our own cupid of Love on the Day of Love (an ancient post-pagan holiday based on the many martyrs named Valentine for his sacrifice to the Love of God) but most certainly goes farther back as Lupercalia was (is) celebrated on February 13th through the 15th by ancient Romans to cleans and ward off evil spirits, and is certainly connected to the Arcadian Lycaia, the procession of the Wolf and Satyrs where the magistrates and youth of the city run the streets shouting and having fun while girls and women try to block their progress (without being injured) to foster health and good luck in giving birth to healthy children.
