Livingroom Mural

Posted Jul 29, 2005, 11:35:58 PM UTC
I was standing in my livingroom when it struck me! I painted this! Well here it is.

This the east wall of my livingroom. From the top to the bottom thick black border lines is 5 feet, this gives you an idea of how large this is. The figures are from the tombs of King Tut and Rhamses the II. The heiroglyphs are 2 passages from the book of the dead.

Please come to MY house and the evil beige/cream walls-of-doom

If I didn't have to share this house I'd attack it with paint!

You could always just paint your room.
      • Jul 30, 2005, 12:54:30 AM UTC
No wall space -- covered in Book shelves ^_^ I have a TINY 10x10 room, I need storage more than wall space.

heh but it's worth it. Moving back home after I divorced, my mother was able to retire. It's not so bad, just drab.

I didn't know you did MURALS!? Why was I not previously informed? LOL! I love you, man. You're so awesome. Your range of talents extends far beyond what was previously 'common knowledge of Lloyd the Great'. LOL! This is impressive. Can I come stay at your house someday?
    • Jul 29, 2005, 10:51:19 PM UTC
If you can take the insanity that is my home then your more than welcome, lol!

!!!!!! Omg..you keep astounding me with your skill..god! lol Not only do you draw highly real people and render them quite well, but you also paint ancient egyptian art, almost exactly like you had been living back then to get the lessons >_< LOL my parents would love having a mural like this in their living room, we actually have quite a collection of egyptian statues, books, and art ourselves, guess you could say we love Egypt too Smile This is really cool, I actually did myself awhile back, a Papyrus type art on a crumbled paper bag(only thing close to papyrus) and painted my names initials upon it in egyptian. This is really cool Llyod, thanks for showin' us.

Thank you for the comment! I am just now begining to learn that there are several other fans of egyptian art here in PD. I'm very happy to find this out because maybe i'll put up some more of my egyptian artwork I used to do (as soon a find them).

I wish I had an Egyptian mural in my livingroom. If I could, I would ask you to paint one for me and I would say "pwetty pleaaase" Innocent WIth sugar ontop.

Thank you BR, i've only done 8 murals ever and i'm still a beginer at them. If you ever go to San Fran check out Jerry's Tattoo's. It's between 20th and Mission.
      • Jul 29, 2005, 4:52:21 PM UTC
why? did you do a mural there? i live about an hour away from San Fran
        • Jul 29, 2005, 4:58:42 PM UTC
Yes I did, I painted an oriental dragon about 10 yrs ago on one of the walls there.
          • Jul 29, 2005, 10:49:14 PM UTC
oh wow really? i'll have to remember to go check it out next time I'm in SF.

I love that you have Anubis in your livingroom. Your house must have an eclectic feel to it.
    • Jul 29, 2005, 4:30:41 PM UTC
Actualy the house does. The living room is an Egyptian tomb. My bedroom is sort of modern oriental. My boy's room is something from the Death Star and Lord of the Rings. My kitchen well is a mix of a 60's diner and Pueblo Indian. And my garage is a war zone. All of this is connected together with a purple hallway which has a collection of medieval weapons displayed along the walls. I feel tired just describing it. Whew!

My house is and odd assortment (when clean) of My girlfriends faerie collection, my halloween memorabilia, and hundreds of movies and videogames. A bit cluttered.

That's it, Lloyd! You are coming to my house to paint me an awesome mural like this! Laughing I absolutely love it. You did such a beautiful job with the heiroglyphs and everything. Now what does it say? Hmm? JK. I just can't get over how amazing this is. It looks exactly like something you would find in their tombs. What kind of ceremony is this from? It is not an opening of the mouth ceremony, but it is so beautiful Great work, hun.
    • Jul 29, 2005, 4:23:56 PM UTC
Thank you Kristy!, actualy the right side of the mural 'is' the opening of the mouth ceremony as depicted in Tut's tomb. The left side is a song to Amun-Ra. The figure of Anubis though has nothing to do with anything. I just thought he looked nice and I put him in as an after thought.
I'm very happy you liked this one. Maybe I should post my other murals...
      • Jul 29, 2005, 4:32:52 PM UTC
Yes, Lloyd...please do. Please? Pretty please? I will beg... Laughing I wa just wondering why Tut's ceremony looked like this. That is odd. But then again, there are alot of things wrong about his tomb. His name was etched off the walls of his tomb and his sarcophagus. They are still trying to figure out why that was. They think it may be because he wanted to go back to the old way of worshipping more than one God again. Who knows? Either way, it is so wonderful to look at.

Wow! I didn't know you were an ancient Egyptian culture buff. I've always been fascinated by the culture and one day hope to visit Egypt. Just as soon as all of this terror crap is blasted off the face of the earth. It seems we have more than just art in common, I am so happy.
          • Jul 29, 2005, 5:13:08 PM UTC
Most definitely! ^_^ King Tut is my absolute favorite Pharaoh. There is so much mystery surrounding him. Like the whole thing with his tomb and his sudden untimely death. I can't get enough of Egypt's history. I love it. Once again, Lloyd, great minds think alike. ^_^

O.O This is AWESOME. I never imagined I'd meet someone who could repeatedly leave my mouth ajar in awe. You have such talent Dennis, and it is becoming a constant joy to await your latest work.
    • Jul 29, 2005, 6:02:14 PM UTC
Thank you so much! I will try harder not to disappoint with my next posting.
  • Jul 29, 2005, 2:47:22 PM UTC
WOW Dennis!!!! That is the most awesome thing EVER!!! It looks so cool, it's just like looking back in time to what the Egyptian murals must have looked like when they were first painted. I have always wanted to paint a mural on my wall but I've never had the guts, ha ha. The colors on this are so vibrant, and I love all those heiroglyphs...it must have taken you forever to paint all those characters so neatly. The "wow" factor on this is though the roof for me...its georgeous...AWESOME job!! Bounce

Thank you Bunny! I did put a lot of work into this but I had suprised myself when I completed the whole thing within 2 weeks! Starnge how some things like an 11 by 14 inch drawing can take almost a month and an entire wall only takes 2 weeks. I am so happy everyone seems to like this so far. Thanks!
