Prompt #38
Show your character and their family. Are they posing for a picture or spending time together? Are they family by blood or by choice? How does your character feel about their family?
They say things were alot different before his mother died. It's what's been reassured of him, again and again. That's the reason his father must have become an alcholic. That's the reason his father may act strange or cruel at times. 'You must be understanding of him, and not judge his behavior. It would be cruel to hold him accountable for any wrong commited.'
Seriously, justification for every single thing he does? Guess I should just shut up and bear it, right?
Luis' father was nothing short of an authoritatarian. A long pedegree of simple working breeds has led to his son one day joining him on the factory floor. Standards were high, but expectations were higher, especially when it came to respect. Respect your betters and you won't have trouble. Because of this one rule, Luis has never gotten along with his father. His father never once deserved an ounce of his respect, nor his sympathy. She may have been his father's wife, but she was his mother. When it came to conflict, the dinner table became a battlefield every night. When it came to love and affection, Luis learned quickly not to bring it up. Clearly his father had spent it all on his mother. None left for poor Luis.
Therefore, Luis hates his father: hates him for everything he failed to deliver as a father ought. He'll never forgive him for that.
