Personality: Vain, and tenacious; Basil is unafraid of confrontation. Although prone to moments of doubt, he is a firm believer of the "fake it 'til you make it," motto. And if there's anyone who can fake it, it's him. He does become quite attached to people and pokemon, though he is unwilling to show it. He's desperate to maintain a cool air of distance, despite being actually quite sensitive and emotional.

Background: Born and raised in the Alola region, Basil was in love with adventure and the sense of discovery. While he never became a trainer himself, he was passionate for travel. It would only make sense that when he came of age, he left his small, humble home in search of something grand. This brought him to the Kalos region, where he moved from city to city before finally landing in the radiant, gleaming heart of Kalos: Lumiose City. With every city he visited, he accepted odd jobs to maintain the means to survive. Coming from humble origins, Basil had to work hard for what little he had.

After years of odd jobs and wild changes in careers, Basil found himself in the field of beauty and fashion. Minor modeling appearances had landed him in the right rooms at the right times, and through a combination of fortune and perseverance, he had worked himself into position of notoriety. Basil found that the work came easily; he enjoyed fashion enough, and he quickly became a very talented artist. However, as his skills grew, his passion waned. Though he would one day find himself a celebrity makeup artist, he found very little endeared him to the craft as much as fame and fortune once had. He had become stagnant and tired, solely dedicated to furthering his career. Relationships and health had fallen to the wayside, and by 27, his passion for artistry was all but exhausted.

He had burned the candle from both ends, only to wind up burned himself.

During his travels, Basil had learned about the odd nature of the residents of Crater City; he found the location intriguing, from the strange Pokemon who lived there, to the origin of The Crater Region itself. In an attempt to strike out and develop his brand further, Basil decided to move out to Crater City. Lumiose City was grand, but he had to set himself apart. While the prospect of travel excited him, the fear of failure kept him humble and focused. Basil was there to make himself known, to further his career, and reinvigorate the affection for artistry he once had. Only time would tell if the city would bring him fame, failure, or something completely unexpected.
