Right....um, there is no reason for this picture to be here except I felt terrible about a previous post. Not doing my best makes me feel guilty.

Good to see someone taking on figure drawing around here. It's the best way to learn how to draw the human figure.

Watch out for a few things though. The pose here is a little unnatural. With his rib cage facing to the left it doesn't look possible that his head could be facing that far to the right. His right arm (on the left side of the page) is also akward.

Another thing to watch out for is the balance of the figure. The nose knows where the balance is. draw a direct line strait down from the nose and make sure where it meets the ground is where the foot is that is carrying the weight.

    See attached drawing.

So "the nose knows" theory works for where the weight is distributed the most (like if the person is balancing on one foot?)Why is that?

one of my teachers told me about it. It mostly has to do with the head. The head tells us where the weight is distributed in a standing pose because we have to shift our legs and hands around to support our huge mellon heads.
A teacher I had for figure drawing taught me that nose knows trick. It must be true since he's the animation director for Space Jam so he knows what he's talkin' about hahah
