When Kiara was 16, they were 16, too; and all of the things that came with it. They were young and immature, and so, so jealous.
She was perfect-- there was nothing about her that they could pick apart, pry open to sate their envy. She never missed a class, all of the teachers loved her, and her scores always topped the class. But they were jealous, so they had to find fault with her.
Her fault, they decided, was her demeanor. She was friendly enough, obliging enough, and spoke when spoken to, but she was always... disinterested. As if she lacked passion. Being alone suited her well, they decided.
And alone she was.
