DEKA - OPPOSITE SIZES (REVERSE CHALLENGE)

#99 Draw or write about your character after being shrunk to a tiny size or (For smaller characters,) being enlarged to dizzying heights for a day. Are you now one inch tall or ten feet tall? How do they feel? What do they do with this newfound size?

Basil found a magical device that can grant any wish, but at the cost of another's current state. They feel the earth rumble at a rhythmic pace as they look up to see an enormous draconic humanoid looking back at them with concern. They stared with that signature frozen anxious smile, as if they were caught.

"U-Uh miss Lara!" Basil stutters. "What brings you here?"

"I'd be careful if I were you, little one." replies Lara. "That device in your hand? It can be anything you want, but someone has to pay the price to make it work."

"Can we try it, my lady? I wanna try something funny!"

"What were you gonna wish for?"

Basil had an obvious answer in their mind. And they were not hesitant to let it out.

"I wanna be a real kid!"

The device vibrates, emitting a magical aura between the two. Basil began to slowly grow heavier, while Lara began to feel lighter. They grew bigger every second, while she started to slowly shrink.

 

"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!" panics Lara, her voice rough and raspy.

"I didn't know this thing can have voice detection!" Basil answers.

Because Basil wished to be a real child, Lara Kai must pay the price of that: by being what Basil is - a tiny little girl. The plant fae becomes a 4-foot tall child from elementary, but the Drifter herself becomes a small reduced sprite, much like a nymph. The device shuts down, with Basil accidentally dropping it. It breaks on impact, rendering it useless to turn back.

"Wow!" exclaims Basil. "Look, miss Lara! I'm a real- uh, Lara?"

They looked around, until they hear small sobbings from below their leg level. They see a tiny Lara Kai, just being a cute little baby girl. She reaches out for Basil, demanding them to carry her.

However, Lara cannot speak in her usual demeanor, as it would come off as too quick to comprehend. According to science, the tinier things are, the faster they get; versus the opposite, the larger the object is, the heavier their mass, volume, and the slower their movement gets. Outside of known laws, Lara Kai is notorious for maintaining human speed no matter her size. But this one gave her a small drawback of not being able to be intimidating like she used to.

 

To compensate this? She says a familiar word to Basil:

"Gu."

"Gu?" Basil tilts their head. "What's that?"

"Gu!" repeats Lara.

"Uh... You mean I should carry you?"

Lara Kai responds with outstretched arms, with her hands opening and closing. She demands a hug from Basil, just to sense their touch. Basil understood the gesture, cautiously holding her close. Lara clings to their chest, never letting go. Her star-shaped pupils sparkle for affection, not for ominous threats and sadistic impulses.

She repeats the same word "Gu" as a form of communication, like how a baby tries to communicate with a parent. Until someone helps them restore them back to their original sizes, Lara has to adapt to being small, and Basil being a normal child.

"Does that mean I can go to real school, miss Lara?" Basil asks Lara eagerly.

"Mmm, gu!" Lara replies.

"Is that a yes?"

"Gu!"

 

Basil is just too scared to misinterpret the legendary Final Drifter herself. Never had their creator Stella know about her, so they need to talk to her themself.

"I'll take it as a 'Maybe'."

"Gu?"

"Do you have another phrase to tell me 'No'?"

"Eh!" says the tiny Lara.

"Eh? Is that your 'No'?"

"Gu!"

"Oh, okay. I'll just keep paying attention to sound cues until I bring you back to normal. But can I just please be like this for a day or two? Please, miss Lara?"

Lara sighs, not wanting to disappoint Basil. "... Gu."

"Yay!" Basil cheers. "Thanks, Lara! Now I can finally be a real kid! I want to be like those other creatures that walk and stomp the land! I can help with Stella and the fire goddess in every adventure!"

 

"... Gu..."

Lara sits inside Basil's lotus flower, just contemplating her tiny but humiliating existence. She just wants to be her 14-feet tall self, where she intimidated her foes with actions and not just mere words. But if it means seeing the world as that small perspective less than her human self, then she'll give it a shot.

Maybe it can make her feel like a kid again?

Why not do a total Opposite Day scenario instead? There's a joke about Lara that happened 5 years ago, which was me trying to make her a baby via a different chibi style. The "Gu" catchphrase carried on until today, which I use to declare my presence as the creator of the DEKA-Verse project. As for Basil? I gave them the privilege of being a 4-ft child for who knows how long.

But fairies and fae the size of humans can vary in context. Some are wholesome, some are uncanny. It all depends on how they're portrayed.
