First I used an overhead projector to get everything in order, then I tacked the reference photo next to the easel and used sharpened charcoal pencils mostly for the face. The hair is Mars Black acrylic and when I was done, I uploaded it into the computer and tweaked the contrast a bit in photoshop and did a digital clean up.

CHARCOAL, FOR THE FACE....MARS BLACK ACRYLIC FOR TH HAIR. IT'S ON WHITE ART BOARD SO I HAD TO DIGITALLY CLEAN UP THE SMUDGES AND SO FORTH WHEN I UPLOADED IT INTO THE COMPUTER.
