Yeah，it would be，although I guess you get used to a lot in a world where multiple sapient species are common!
I didn't think about choosing her familiar too hard，I just knew from fairly early on that she finds spiders interesting - one of the bits of personality that came in my head with the character idea - so when she changed to a version of sorcerer ehich uses familiars it seemed like a natural fit. I think if she wasn't with a spider she`d want some sort of cat.
