The Weaver - Stage 1

Posted Mar 10, 2007, 5:38:42 AM UTC
Quickly sketched this one up during class today, then brought it home to start refining it.  It is (drum beat) a Character Design!  I know, I don't have chracters..  But I"m making some.  This particular one is for a comic book I am drafting.  She is the Dimensional Gatekeep - the strings coming from her fingers are each seperate dimensions that she weaves into order - the braid coming out the other side.

Comments welcome - I know she's creepy.

This is great Robin! She is creepy, with that look on her face I wouldn't want to cross her in a dark alley! I really like the idea but i'm wondering. Is she a disembodied head? Her hands are her hair? If she has a body, does she has other hands?! Im usually not into surealism (i can stare into a dali painting for hours on end and still dont understand a thing) but I really like the caracter, I just need explaining before I fully grasp itGrin The hand that weaves is just perfect the way she hold her fingers and the shiny strings, me love! And her face! I dont think I could ever find anything wrong with your art! Also, great choise of colours it's very cold and metal like! Cant wait to see the other stages!

Her body is still being designed - that's why it's a WIP. However, the way it's currently shaping out the body is mostly made of interweaving hands, some with strands coming out of the fingers, some leading the dimension braid around her like a spiralled belt thing...

Thanks so much, Lili! You always leave such great comments! I'l let you know when I have the next bit posted - which, admittedly, could be months...

Laughing I've seen WIP many times in the past and always wondered at it.You know what? I just figured it out...work in progress, I fell off the couch laughing. Wow, I think it's going to look great, I can picture it in my mind and I know you'll be doing something even more awesome then what I see. Tu sais que je suis ta fervente admiratrice! Smile

Yes indeedy it is. I was having troubles writing the first few pages of the comic because I couldn't think of what the gatekeep looked like - then I doodled this one day at school when I was supposed to be drafting an essay...

Yay, Atlantis! Thanks so much, I'm very glad you like her. This is a technique for drawing I've never used before, but many others have... It's a lot of fun, and very quick. Still - I'm not allowed to finish The Weaver until after my commission is done and after my paper for school is finished... *sigh* So many things I want to do, I have to set myself an order of operations!

      Much love,
      Robin

Yeah well, I think I should do that more often.Yes It's just that computer makes me tired.Annoyed And I'm just becoming an antisocial pig because I'm spending most of my time working on my website project... It would be easier if I could actually see youLaughing

heh - no worries. I've gone into my shell anyhow - I'm pretty much only here for moderating until school's out again, although from time to time I'm trying to do a -bit- of drawing (Arkillian's been waiting months for me to get back into pencilling so I can finish a commission for her - I just haven't had the time/energy.)

I'm really hoping life will slow down soon.

I see. I'm barely around here myself, mostly because I joined DA, so I spend most of my time there, if I'm online at all. That's why I haven't replied sooner.

      Thanks Damascus!

Yes, once in a while I really enjoy going a bit gothic - and for this character it just fits perfectly.

      Thanks for the comment!!
