Damodara the Unbreakable, a rat spirit known for his discipline in the art of meditation and countless years of conditioning his body to endure extreme modification.

Among the thousands of rats living within the great walls of the holy temple of Karni Mata, Damodara resides as both a servant to the goddess and a protector of the creatures that live therein. True form unseen by humans, he appears to be just another of the many rodents living in the temple, this guise enabling him to move about without hinderence. The majority of his time is spent going through various mantras in meditation, completely in a trance allowing him to connect to his inner most spiritual center. It is through these states of meditation that he achieved the ability to constrict his body into its current state, proving that the mind and body can achieve anything through power of spirit.

As I mentioned on the concept sketches of Damodara, I wanted to do something with the sketch of him you see here. I bumped the original sketch up to 200dpi, so this is actually a lot larger than what I have posted. I might make prints of it, but we'll see. I didn't want to make the image super flashy with full shading and whatnot, I wanted it to be simple but to have the look of being painted on stone or old parchment. The color of his clothing is what I wanted to stand out most, and I went for a warm palette. Of course, I couldn't resist putting in some cooler accents which are in the peacock feathers as well as scattered through his entire outfit. His eyes also mimick the coloration of the peacock feather with the dark greens, blues, and purples banded together. I really love the way this turned out even for being so simple. <3
