Brief biography: 

Nil grew up in a sheltered town constantly attacked by large, mysterious mecha. These big, seemingly sentient machines destroyed everything in their path unprovoked, and no one knew where they came from.

Her home town was one of the few that learnt to adapt to the harshness of their foes. Harvesting their shells and inner machinery to build their own contraptions, Nil's people thrived. 

Nil built her own mecha at a young age named Bishop. Unlike the the rest of the human-made machines, Bishop holds a strange almost sentience that the large, aggressive ones do. Unlike his giant counterparts, Bishop seeks only to keep Nil company. 

No one was curious enough to find out why these machines terrorised them. Where they came from. So, ever the curious creator, Nil took that mantle up. She left the safety and familiarity of her home and ventures to find answers - and a small little mecha that she befriended that seems to lack the aggression of its counterparts.
