Making Art Brings Me Joy And Community: Journal Entry

Being an artist is a big part of who I am. When I've had to go long periods of time without making anything it's left me feeling empty and unfulfilled. I always feel the need to make things which is why it's easy for me to keep up with art. When I make something that feels unique it makes me feel very creative and most like I'm being true to myself. I believe that my (currently) private collection of art techniques is my unique gift to the world. deviantART (in the past) gave me a sense of community because I was able to attain more followers there than anywhere else. I don't get hung up on the number of likes my art gets, I only appreciate whatever amount I do get. In a private Neopets guild, I shared a PaperDemon portal prompt I had drawn and people genuinely got excited about my personal art. It almost brought me to tears of joy. I never thought that would happen. On Art Fight, I draw dozens of gifts for strangers every July. The result is a flood of kind and grateful comments, many of which read as very excited. It makes drawing for others so rewarding.
