This Is God

Jenifer's family got the visit one week after the war started. He had died in a friendly fire incident. Her father had shipped off to another country to fight a war and now his beautiful daughter had no father. She was up in her room crying for hours. "Appreciate life", He once said, "You never know when it may end,"

Jenifer teared up as she thought of his wise words. "So true father...." As she went on with her life she saw that no one seemed to care, she had lost her father, and no one seemed to care, all everyone cared was kicking the leader of some country's ass that she never knew existed before. "Why do we fight a battle that is not ours?" No one would answer her question.

She went to church that Sunday and the preacher talked about the war. God supports our country. God supports this war. Jenifer eyes filled with tears. Does this mean "God" supports death? That God wanted her father to die? What kind of God was that? Jenifer couldn't stand herself, she ran out of the church crying.

That night she cried and cried, the next day was this memorial service for those who died....just the first half of second period that all the other students would moan and groan about, no one would care that someone she cared deeply about had died fighting for something he didn't believe in, simply for the fact that he loved his country so that he would even fight for something he didn't believe in.

She yelled at God. How could he let this happen? Didn't he care? If he loved them so much why did this happen? Reluctantly she prayed that he would tell her why? Why did her father have to die? She cried until she fell asleep. She woke up, crying once again, but somehow...through some strange way....she knew the answer to her prayer.

At the school assembly next day she was asked to speak because she was the only one at the school to lose a loved one. They whole room was bustling. People throwing papers, just there to talk with their friends, none of them cared her father had died. The one man who had taught her everything. He was her hero. She would not let him die in vain.

She teared up and shouted " Please be quiet, for what I have to tell has changed my life, the one person who meant the most to me is dead, for what? Something that in a few years will not matter! I've been asking my self for days why? Why did my father die? and last night....I got an answer....an answer that said...'This is God, can I please have your attention, there's a need for intervention, I am disappointed in what I'm seeing, you fight each other in my name, treat life likes its a foolish game, well I say you got the wrong idea, what I want is love, I've been waiting on a change in you...This is God, I've given everything to you, but oh look at what you do to the world that I created, This is God what is with all this hate, You grow more foolish with age, All I wish for you is love, I've been waiting for a change in you.....This Is God....'"

Inspired by the song "This is God" By Phil Vasser, 2003. I do not take rights for the title or the song, I am merly ispired by the beautifull lyrics and thought it would make a great mremise for a story. Thank You for your time.
