Displacement: To stop a threat

Portal Posi Boss Fight Prompt 6: Posi’s whole schtick is portals– there’s got to be one somewhere in the mech. Draw or write about your character finding a portal inside the mech and disrupting it using Posi’s own methods to damage the mech.

It’s been quite some time since I have closed the portal to Kahari. Avangard seems to be in peace once more. I’ve decided to spend the rest of my days studying and training my magic. However, it appears this peace wouldn’t last long.

While I have spent my time training in Avangard, I heard a loud rumble. What was that sound...? I thought, as I stopped and stood still, Did another portal open...? Confused, I began to head towards the square, and witnessed a crowd fleeing to the other side of town. They were all screaming in fear. As I approached the square, a man came to me, and said “Alphabett! A giant robotic snake has appeared in Avangard!”

“What?!” I responded, “Where did you see it?”

“It’s coming from that direction!” The man pointed up north to one of the docks. As I ran to the docks, there is chaos running amok. Displaced portals are everywhere. Over there, a robotic snake is constricting one of the airships. Inside the snake’s mouth is a woman summoning multiple displaced portals. She is heard cackling in the distance.

“HAHAHAHAHAH!!!!” She laughed, “You pathetic fools fail to understand the ways of science?! I won’t let you see the light of Avangard ever again!!!”

As the woman continued to laugh, she summoned more displaced portals, causing multiple screaming people to fall into them and get sent to other worlds. As I stood to watch the chaos ensue, I knew the woman sounded pretty familiar...

Summoning portals... displacing them... ah! I thought, That old woman from before told me about her... Portal Posi!

“You over there, cyclops guy!” Said Posi, “Why are you just standing there, watching these poor people get sucked into other worlds? Are you helpless?”

“You must be Portal Posi, correct?” I said, “That old lady from Kahari told me about you.”

“HOW DID YOU KNOW MY NAME?!” Posi angrily responded, “DID YOU EXPECT ME TO BE SOME KIND OF NOBODY?! Go to hell!!”

As she was about to summon a displaced portal under my feet, I managed to dodge it in time. However, when I was about to draw up my weapon, I began to realize something.

It looks like I can’t destroy that snake with a single blow. I must find another way to stop her. I thought, as I stare at the snake with my very own eye, I must get inside that thing, and find what’s making it work.

When I was about to jump inside the robotic snake, I was smited by its head, knocking me into one of the buildings. Portal Posi then lowered its head and stares at me, “Oh how pathetic must you be, trying to sneak inside my mech.” She said, “Are you too tired to fight?”

“No.” I said, as I was about to cast Timefreeze with the last of my power, “I sense something inside that mech of yours. Could it be a portal?”

“What?!” Said Posi. “I-” Before she got a chance to finish talking, I managed to cast Timefreeze, and went inside the snake’s head, while everything is frozen in time. As I got inside the snake, I see something glowing. A portal.

“So, this is what she uses to make the mech run...” I uttered, “Since that tome I used to close the portal to Kahari is gone, I have no choice, but to destroy that one instead.” As I drew my blade, I sliced it in half, and destroyed the portal, allowing operations on the snake to disrupt. Before the effects of Timefreeze wore off, I managed to escape the head safely. Once everything turned back to normal, Portal Posi was confused, but then turned around to see me.

“My snake!!! What did you do to it?!” She shouted, “I swear I’ll get you and the other adventurers next time, this time with a stronger snake!!!”

With a grumpy look on her face, she summons another portal. “My work here is done!” She shouted, as she proceeds to leave Avangard. I continued to stand in the docks, and watch the robotic snake fall into the clouds, never to be seen again.

After this was all over, I decided to head back home, only to be greeted by the townsfolk who began to hail me as a hero.

“Thank you, Alphabett!” One said, “Ahh finally, I can live at peace again...” Cried another. “You really are amazing!”

“Uh... thanks?” I responded in confusion. I then proceeded to warn the townsfolk about Portal Posi, “Anyways, Portal Posi is still out there. I’m too tired to face her again, and therefore I need some time to rest. If any adventurer must face her, be careful.” Afterwards, I headed back home while the crowd watches.

“What a weird day.” I said.
