Love Magic WIP

Did a quick flats pass on this lineart so it was more apparent what was going on.

I wanted to do a romantic picture for the Valentines day challenge coming up, and my OCs Bryan, and Julia popped out :) I’ve been really enjoying some new decisions about their relationship I’ve made lately :)

    The movement in this piece is so beautiful. I love the the crisp lineart and the way the gesture from the bow/poses interlock. Smile

      Thank you Smile I've been trying for a few years to loosen up my poses, and I think I'm finally getting a hang of it :3 There was a lot I didn't get till I watched some videos by Proko on it. None of the life drawing classes I took explained how to do it at all. I was just expected to *know* This one was a challenge lineart wise, cause of the interlocking though. I had fun figuring the pose out Smile

    I saw this a couple of weeks ago but didn't have time to sit and comment Sad
    It's glorious! Your character placement is so spot on Big Smile

      Oh- I redrew the pose a heap of times to get the balance and flow of it right cause it was pretty difficult. It originally had a third person in the picture too to make it worse cause these two are part of a love triangle.... square? as such, but I couldn't make it work.

      I like s curve format pictures, and this one has a strong movement in it's thumbnail which is what I wanted Smile I'm happy you liked it Big Smile

    Damn this is awesome, he sure has some bow skills. I really like the shapes created in the overall image it certainly makes it more interesting to look at, can't stop staring at those back muscles.

      Ah- yes Big Smile Bryan does become really good with the bow Smile His character has always looked more comfortable with a bow- I'm not sure why I put the weapon change from sword to bow off for so long.

      Thank you- I've been trying to practice getting more dynamic shapes and lines of action and stuff in my art. IT's taken some time to get there, but certainly with pictures like this I'm starting to get it Big Smile I'm glad you like the results so far TuT

    Gorgeous pose! The arm through the body is weird but I read in the comments it was intentional.

      I bet it is ^^; IT's the first time I've drawn this new aspect of Bryan (heck- I forgot his scar entirely on the last shirtless pic of him I drew so double fail XD ), so it was a bit weird for me too, but I wanted to get comfortable with the concept cause it's not something he heals from in the story, or atleast as it is right now he doesn't heal. I may change it. The missing portion of his chest is a visual manifestation of an evil spell, so technically, I could heal it to a scar if the spell is removed, but part of me also wants to keep the consequences of the spell- that his abilities become human. It feels like he'd get more character development that way >.>

      Thank you though Smile I think I drew Bryan's pose first, and liked how it turned out so I fleshed the picture out. It took a lot of repositioning, but I'm getting better at this dynamic pose thing Big Smile

      The arm through the chest thing though- is it weird cause it's not usual? Or does it look wrong? I had to readjust that angle a lot of times. I'm not sure if I got it fully right in the end.

        It doesn't look wrong. It's just unusual. Smile

          That's good then. I was worried I had the position off and that's why it was weird. Sticking arms through the chest isn't usual so I get it Smile I was worried it'd translate wrong but I guess there's not a lot I can do about it ^^;

    cool! is she sticking her arm through his chest?
    • Jan 17, 2016, 6:55:12 PM UTC
      Yeah, she is. He has a magical sword wound that goes right across his chest from his heart to the opposite side of his rib cage.

        oh ok I was like ???? Smile
        • Jan 17, 2016, 8:09:03 PM UTC
          No, it's fair enough. You don't expect arms through chests XD The severity of the wound got upgraded recently, and I thought it'd make a striking visual if I put and arm through the chest in a non aggressive way.

            well it turned out very cool, and it is definitely original, I've only seen that sort of thing on zombies and such - I like out of the box thinking! Smile

              Cheers Smile I hope that it's not TOO weird for people though >.> I'm worried with some of the responses from this pic. ^^;
