[Stryx] Headshot Practice

Posted Jun 1, 2020, 8:02:13 PM UTC

Just some doodles I did sometime last month to try and get a feel for visually differentiating some of my battos through shapes and not colors...

And then I colored them anyways :'D

It's great to practice with distinct faces, it really makes the character's individuality stand out. The nostrils on Tucen came out cute, I feel they look the most different of the three.

It really does help! I've got another really rough page where I've worked on pushing the shapes even more, but it's still far from ready to see the light.

And yeah, Tucen's actually follow the base import the closest, it's a little out of my usual style, but I think he turned out cute! Big Smile

I know that feeling, take your time until you feel it's truly ready Smile

Really? The small snout is cute, plus front angles can be pretty hard.

Yeah! Comet and Prince are more in my typical, more dragon-esque style, with the wider snout! When I first got into stryx I wasn't a huge fan of the default chiro snouts but now that I've drawn it on Tucen I'm a lil more open to it Big Smile

Thank you thank you! I've really fallen in love with the CSP brushes, myself. It feels a lot more natural to me to sketch with what appears as a pencil than to just sketch with most other sketch brushes!
