Biweekly Prompt: Signifigant other

Zora is the water to Merian's fire. They were engaged until Merian made a decision she felt showed he would always put her last.

Maybe they will get back together someday in a burst of art nouveau glory.

The couple looks so adorable but man did that description give me whiplash. Quite the divorce bomb holy crap, I have to know the lore behind this

  When they met, Merian was training Zora to do his job. They were on the road, helping people with their magical issues and they traveled together for years before she took a job in the capital doing the same thing. He told her he wanted to settle down with her and she agreed to wait until the time was right, but when he was offered a job in the capital he turned it down to keep traveling. Cue big old fight. But I....THINK they will get back together? In the end.
