Everyone in the village can agree that Silva is a bit of an odd duck. She doesn't seem to care what anyone thinks of her. She has a great memory for stories and plants and paths in the woods, but not for names or rules of behavior or things that her mother told her were important to get done today. Her grandmother was the village storyteller and Silva spent her early childhood wanting to follow in her footsteps, learning the details of hundreds of stories that described strange happenings and fantastic places. Although her grandmother always told the stories the same way, Silva changed details here and there to suit her audience.
When her grandmother became ill, though, she told Silva about the great doctors and magical healers in the city who could cure almost any illness and Silva changed her mind about what she wanted with her future. Healing magic you were born with or you weren't, but medicine you could learn. Still, no one else seemed to understand this. Doctors in Chedra are not women - particularly not ones from mountain villages in the middle of nowhere with uneven levels of education. Did she maybe mean a midwife? No? Currious.
Still, since the local doctor had his hand eaten by a bear when Silva was about 14 she has been helping him out and his patients seem to fare unusually well. So she carries on, gathering herbs, exploring the forest, telling stories and confusing the people in her village.
