Colonel J.G. Ash was a Cavalryman in the glory days of the universes' merging. He was famous for making one of the first multi-man expeditions into the cosmos, founding an outpost on an uncolonized planet, and fighting to keep it there.
The secret weapon was the belt he wore around his waist. The weathered US print on the buckle would shift to form the head of a Phoenix, engulfing the man in protective flames. It allowed him to take to the skies, intimidating his enemies and sparking legend.
One day, the Colonel died in battle. The only thing removed from his body was the famed belt, which got sold at an auction. JB Reed defeated the buyer and took it for himself. He replaced the long scabbard on the right side, fitting it with a special ammunition box for quick access.
When it comes to the detective's value of this item, JB knows what it does. He values it and takes care of it, always taking advantage of situations where it'll save him.
