"I've never understood the obsession mortals have with immortality. Even if you'd live forever, not everyone around you ever will. You watch your loved ones die and wither time and time again, until you either can't take it anymore, or your heart turns to stone.

And what if you've had enough, but you have truly achieved what you once so badly wanted? If you can't even make it stop - what then? Would you still think it was worth it?

Or would you give anything to wind back the clock?

With only cold void around you, there is no greatness in eternal life. There are no parades, no trophies, no people to rule or please. There's no one to pat you on the back and congratulate you. No one will remember you, and you fade into the crowd that later perishes before you. None will remember, because there is no one to remember. There are no placid days of sipping your favorite drink on the porch, knowing that you have given your all.

Your work is never done. You could always do more, if you just try hard enough. You're never enough. It will never end.

And you start to wish that your heart could turn to stone, after all.

There are the screams of silence, and nothing more, until the end of time. Until everything falls back into itself - and you can only pray that it tears you apart as well. Because if it doesn't,
