Carl and his buddy Cluny

so I dunno if Cluny counts as an item but he is definatley Carls favorite thing in the world, when Carl was a lil boi he found a bunch of orphaned rats, he felt rlly bad and tried to rescue them but only one actually made it to adulthood, but Cluny (the one surviving rat) had gained magical powers to speak, run extremly fast, and gained lots of strength (and he does not want to explain where he got them from cause the reason is embarrasing)
but in return for Carl saving him as a babi, he swore to protect him (cause Carl is kinda a weakling)
and they have traveled together since
