Bard, Dhampir Monk

My current DnD boi, Bard!

Bard is a dhampir; his Shadar Kai mother was bitten by Strahd to become one of his many brides while pregnant, and when he was born he was discarded. Unfortunately he was already undying, and cried for nights and nights on end until the Shadar Kai, usually repulsed by Strahd and his kind, took pity on the infant and reluctantly took him into their tribe. 
His adoptive family didn't love him, and raised him to be terrified of vampires and their nature, refusing to let him satisfy his hunger on anything but rats and creatures he could catch in the mists of Barovia. Still, he grew up to be kind natured enough, though with no real understanding or fear of death as a result of being surrounded by it at all times in his haunted homeland. He became an accomplished marshal fighter, alternating between helping the shadar Kai and hiding from Strahds attention.

when Strahd was finally killed by a mysterious adventurer, Barovia was released from its Shadowfell curse, and Bard found himself suddenly able to explore Faerün without fear.
