A lineless background with a lineart character/object. Sounds like something I would do if it wasn't for the difficulty of doing everything lineless, lol.

It looks simple and neat, but you should try compositing on your work. Gradient maps can be helpful to give color to your piece, aside from the flat colors alone. In compositing, the atmosphere gains its mood and tone from the use of color.

Also, there's something about going near the line between a Duocast-exclusive Element and a Latent Element. Not sure how the lightning works on your character, but you can expand it more while not overstepping that said line. I did ask before about my 2 Fire-type characters, and it's okay as long as its function isn't the Duocast type. More like an appearance mutation than a different element on its own.

hi! Thank you so much for taking the time to give me such awesome feedback! I'll definitely keep your suggestions in mind. Since I've always struggled with BGs I appreciate any help I can get.

And I'll try to learn the differences between a Duocast-exclusive Element and a Latent Element better, so I get it right... Just as Hodei is actually a storm sorcerer, lightning should be one of their main spell-casting abilities.

thank you again for your comment!
