I think the pose is great. What medium did you use? Maybe the background could contain some hint of the light source which is illuminating the character from the bottom left?

This is pencil colored in photoshop. I still haven't gotten around to finishing this darn thing. But yeah some sort of splash of light in the background might work.

    Colored in Photoshop? Really? Wow - I totally thought it was done in pastels or something lol
