There's a character named Son Goku in this anime? That's the name of the main character in DBZ.

Both Anime's are lossely based on the same chinese legend.

  Netiher DBZ or Gensomaden Saiyuki stay very "true" to the legend however Saiyuki stays closer than DBZ did. However I think the original Genjo Sanzo (The Monk) didn't carry a smith and wesson
