It all depends I guess... I run on 1280X1024 resolution so most of PD's stuff is itty bitty for me.
It depends on if you still have 800x600 users. I know you do it for asethetics and compatabiliy.
Maybe an option we can click to skip a preview size and view only original size?
I know I'd rather see it at full size all the time. But I may not be the norm.
I know like in DA and Y!G I can select in my profile "View Full Size" and when I click a thumbnail it takes me right to the full size version as opposed to a reduced preview.

I'd say though 700 Wide isn't too big and really IMO Most of my things are under 700px wide, anything length wise (Vertically).
