What a neat piece! I love the color scheme.
On the grounds of improvements, I think:
1) the face is a bit skewed, which is can be solved by sketching the basic circular shape and structure (the common "+" lines) first.
2) the brush strokes for the background turquoise and orange could be a bit more refined.
