*laugh* Oh yeah. ^_^ ...I imagine photographing them has gotten a lot easier since the rise of digital cameras - all of that rapid movement and sudden bursts of light - can you imagine the effort that would go into getting a good shot of them the old-fashioned way! And also thinking - if there was an American subspecies - Audobon did a mixture of life studies and posing dead ones to get his detail work. Would he have ever been able to successfully take a phoenix, or just - give up in frustration after a week of near-burns?
Digital photography has made capturing such things easier for sure! Though I'd imagine Audobon would have to give up, phoenixes tend to turn into a pile of ash in death.
