Nice color choices on your stryx, it creates a very rich effect with those hues. The snow feels natural, it shows lumps, hills, and dips in the earth it covers (or at the very least in its own distribution). The gray of the sky helps with the mood of the piece, but does feel odd. To catch that same feel, clouds are a viable option- they can darken the sky while still letting some light through, and work to eliminate flat expanses of color in the sky.

The water of the river is done nicely, it glistens and shows a good current. The river bank doesn't quite mesh into the river though. When its an arctic area like such, fast moving water will either expose some dirt from under the snow (in the case that the river hasn't frozen over) or it will continue to move as ice encroaches from the sides (until the point where the surface has completely frozen. For the first option, adding a bit of of dirt and stones along the bank would go far for that effect. For the second, showing a difference in texture to differentiate the ice would be a solid way to go, or show through defining the color and edge of the spreading ice.

Either way, the setting of this is nice, good piece Smile

Thank you for the in-depth constructive criticism! Especially in regard to the river. I'll definitely incorporate some earthy bits along the banks next time I draw a wintery landscape like this. ^^

No problem! A good critique can be worth more than a dozen compliments, though both are still nice, haha.
