✧✧ Design rules

Notice: These rules apply solely for Mysterious Bloom! If you're looking for the design rules for the main PDARPG, you can find them linked on their character creation pages.

While the rules on designs are intended to be light, there are a few in order to keep a sense of cohesion!

1. General

  • Pokemon may be quadrupedal or bipedal, regardless of species. However, they must still maintain the 'feral' body type, even in the case of a normally quadrupedal pokemon on two legs. The movie Zootopia is a good example of this. Fully anthro/furry pokemon are not allowed.
    • Though it should go without saying, outright humans are not allowed either.
  • Stylization is accepted within reason - a pokemon must be recognizable as its species; though there is some leeway in cases such as certain rare mutations.
  • Pokemon may wear accessories or be fully clothed. Clothing does not need to match the 'canon' theme of PMD or the ARPG's place in time.
    • Body modifications such as piercings, tattoos, mobility devices, and prosthetics are also allowed in any aesthetic you choose.

2. Trait usage

  • The colors dictated in a pokemon's primary trait are only responsible for its base coat/coloring. If the pokemon has a secondary trait other than 'no additional markings', their additional markings may be any color.

3. Image guidelines

Note: These only apply for the 'main' image of a character.

  • The image should not be any larger than 1200x1200 pixels.
    • This isn't a hard rule, but more courtesy to our host and those with a slow connection.
  • The image should feature your pokemon in full, with no additional text or alternate views.
    • If you'd like to add more reference material, you may do so in the player description!
    • Watermarks are OK.
  • The image must have a transparent background.
    • Transparency does not need to be 'perfectly cut'.

4. Canon-based-characters, or CBCs

  • Designs based on canon characters (i.e. turning an existing, non-pokemon character from media and turning it into a pokemon) is allowed. However:
    • You must give appropriate credits to the design's source.
    • You may not make 'CBCs' of other people's OCs.
    • You must accept that by making a CBC, you do not hold exclusive rights over that canon character being used to create a CBC, and that other people may do so as well.
    • If the media's copyright holder requests your CBC infriges on their rights, it will be removed.
  • CBCs based on canon pokemon characters who are pokemon (i.e. Nebby, Ash's pikachu, or Grovyle from EOS) are not allowed.
    • Player-characters/avatars from PMD games are allowed, however.
