A mienshao is meditating there, and as the soft breeze triggers the gentle sound of some windchimes, she opens a single eye and greets you quietly.

She looks pretty focused, but you’ve heard she always does – and that overcoming that barrier to talk to Lian is just the first of the many tasks she’ll put you on.

Evolution

To grow from one form into another is generally seen as a basic rite of passage for many pokemon – this phenomena is referred to as evolution. If your pokemon meets the requirements to evolve, evolution guru Lian can offer a means to go through with it.

Evolution is permanent, and once your submission has been processed, a pokemon will have no means of going back.
Lian also knows a special method of permanent mega evolution or gigantamax, if one desires to take that path.

How does my pokemon evolve?

For the most part, leveling in Bloom mirrors that of the latest mainseries games (being Scarlet/Violet, as of writing). Resources for specific pokemon can be found in various places all over the web, so pick your poison when it comes to learning a certain pokemon’s evolution requirements.

While leveling up is straight-forwards, some other methods may not be. You can find the requirements for these other evolution methods below;

Trading...

Pokemon that normally evolve when traded can be evolved after being depicted with a pokemon not on your account in the same piece! NPCs may count for the other pokemon here.

Items...

If a pokemon uses an item to evolve (including if they need to be traded holding an item), you must obtain the item in the game and equip it to your pokemon.

Friendship and affection...

Pokemon that normally evolve with high friendship can be evolved after having art or writing created of them 5 times!
Note: Eevee may also evolve into sylveon this way.

Time of day...

If a pokemon can only evolve during a certain time of day, then their evolution request form must be submitted during the day or night, depending on the pokemon. This is judged by the submission time, not the time it’s reviewed!

This may also be achieved by having the pokemon explore a certain dungeon, and then submitting the evolution request.

By using a specific move...

If a pokemon needs to level up while knowing a specific move to evolve, you can evolve them by depicting them preforming that move!

By walking together...

Also known as the ‘let’s go!’ feature, these pokemon can be evolved after having explored at least one dungeon.

Unique evolution methods...

✾ Mantyke can evolve into mantine by being depicted with a remoraid in a submission.

✾ When nincada evolves, you will automatically get a shedninja with the nincada’s traits as well.

✾ Pancham can evolve into pangoro by being depicted with a dark type in a submission.

✾ Inkay can evolve into malamar by being drawn upside-down.

✾ Sliggoo can evolve into goodra by being depicted in the rain.

✾ Finizen can evolve into palafin by being depicted helping another pokemon in a submission.

✾ Bisharp can evolve into kingambit by being depicted battling another bisharp in a submission.

✾ Gimmighoul can evolve into gholdengo by being equipped with 50 lucky coins.

✾ Galarian farfetch’d can evolve into sirfetch’d by being depicted winning a battle in a submission.

✾ White-striped basculin and Galarian yamask can evolve into their respective next stages by being depicted losing a battle in a submission.

Permanent mega evolution and gigantamax function the same as an item evolution.

My pokemon meets evolution requirements, what else do I need to do?

Evolving a pokemon functions similarly to submitting your starter, or reffing a recruit in the salon. Make sure you have an image of your pokemon's evolved form ready, and then submit the image to PaperDemon.
In the case of a pokemon that require a certain type of artwork to evolve, you may upload and submit this for a dungeon, mission, or the non-challenge queue first, and link it in the form!
