Bonds are a special mechanic that originally came from Sera's Mera community. They were originally a pass with levels and rewards given at each level. But in Nomcromancy they've been redesigned to better fit with how Nomcromancy functions. At it's simplest you get a Free Bond or a Paid Bond and you participate in events and prompts. As a reward you'll receive Glimmer, with your Bond and Glimmer you'll craft new Items, Traits, Weapons, Pets, and more. 

Free VS Paid

Everyone gets the Free Bond and can participate in a Season. A Season is the duration of a Bond, usually 3 months. It only costs 1 Mote to get a Free Bond, so everyone can get one. It has to cost something for the shop to dispense it. You can experience everything a Season has to offer with the Free Version.

When you get the Paid Bond you pay $10 USD to Sera's Kofi Shop, show them your receipt in the community Discord under "Verify Purchases". Upon receiving your Paid Bond you get a badge on your character that shows to other that you've helped keep Nomcromancy running.  Then you can craft PB Alts, these are sometimes recolored versions of items but will always come with a 50% discount on crafting costs vs the Free Versions. Meaning you can craft the things you want sooner and craft more overall.

How do I get a Bond?

When the Bonds are available they'll be available in Sabrina's Shoppe (shop tab up top). The Paid Bond will have a link to my Ko-fi where you can buy it.

Why Bonds?

Bonds allow me to focus on providing content at a consistent and reliable rate. It allows me to work on multiple things over the course of the season and release it as a big update in the next season rather than releasing many little updates. Otherwise bigger projects would be put on the back burner. I've also used this system in Mera for the past year and it was incredibly popular. The Discord practically rioted when I told them I was considering doing away with it. This also allows me to work on and test ideas before releasing them into the core of the game. For example, I can judge the popularity of an item before giving it a price in the core game. Themes are just cool too and I like writing lore with the Bond releases. It's also a good way for me to give you all cool stuff while also paying Nomcromancy's hosting fee.

How Does It Work?

When a Bond is released you'll buy your bond from the store. The free version is 1 mote. Then you'll draw art for Events and Prompts. When finishing an event or prompt you'll receive Glimmer. Then you go to Guides > Crafting Recipes. Then select your item you want to craft. Items that use a "Free Bond" to craft are the Free ones and items that use "Paid Bonds" as an ingredient are the Paid Alts. Paid ones are half price but you need the Paid Bond to use it. Click the item you want to craft, click the empty squares and select the corresponding item, then click craft and you have the item now. You can see what all the items do by clicking their name.

How Many Times Can I Craft An Item?

All items can be crafted multiple times but not everything can be used infinitely. So make sure to read item descriptions. For example you can craft infinite Books of Outrageous Knowledge but you can only use 2 per character. 

What Happens To My Glimmer At The End Of The Season?

At the start of a new season a new bond and a new glimmer will be introduced. Your Glimmer can be sold at any time from the Glimmer's listing. So if you forget to use them all you can still sell them back for Motes/Cheddar.

What is the money from Paid Bonds being used for?

Nomcromancy is free for players, but it's not free for me. I have a monthly hosting fee of $50. If you want to help make sure Nomcromancy stays running then Paid Bonds is the best way to do it.

How many have to be bought to keep Nomcromancy going?

If purchased through Ko-fi I receive 8.50 so 18 people would need to buy one each season. Once in site purchases are available, Stripe gets 3% plus 30 cents, and Paper Demon gets 15%, so I'd get $7.90 and it would take 19 people. I can pay the fee out of my own pocket but I want to be transparent.

Can I  buy a Bond for someone else?

Yes, when you buy it on Ko-fi and post your receipt in the Discord mention who you want the bond to go to.
