A gentle, chilly breeze weaves through a forest of crystalline structures. It catches on the delicate tubes and whistles notes across the mountains, an orchestra of nature. The system’s enormous blue sun sends the mountains sparkling with fractals of light through the crystals. A fine dusting of crystal eroded and shattered through time layers in drifts on the sides of lesser tread paths like an eternal snow. As the night falls, the moon draws on the elements of the planet’s surface and flickers of an aurora borealis brush the crystal sands and structures. The careful step of hooves breaks the silence, and a Volai and her fawn stand at the edge of the trees and watch in wonder.
Now it’s your turn!

Prompts
Prompt #1 - Starsong Mountains
While crystals grow all over Lyra, the Starsong Mountains are the planet’s crown jewel. Here, the crystals tend to grow in tube shapes at higher altitudes. When the wind blows, it catches on the tubes and whistles pure, rich tones. Carefully cultivated areas on a handful of the mountains actually play composed songs if you walk along designated paths– though you may want to bring an air elemental with you if it’s not a windy day. Show your character exploring the mountain range. Your piece must include your character and crystalline mountains.
Prompt #2 - Terra Borealis
Unlike standard auroras, the aurora borealis on Lyra is driven by the moon. Lyra’s moon, Eil, is unusually large and close. It is charged to attract water and sky elemental magic. When the moon is full, it pulls up the elements from the surface of Lyra, creating magical shows of auroras close to the ground. Auroras almost never happen when the moon is new. Show your character in a terra borealis. Your piece must include your character and an aurora borealis-like phenomenon based on the ground.
Prompt #3 - Volai
The Volai of Lyra are intelligent creatures, infused with Celestial magic, and are largely left to roam wild-- there has been little domestication efforts as Volai tend to prioritize their own interests over listening to instructions. They thrive in herd environments but can bond tightly to caretakers in a domestic setting. Even wild herds of Volai are friendly towards visitors on the planet and will often approach for affection. Since they will eat nearly anything offered to them, the guild has dedicated a significant amount of PR to inform people not to feed them– or at least to only feed them locally grown vegetation.
The Volai have slender delicate bodies similar to deer, but their translucent bodies make them harder to spot. Atop their heads are clusters of triangular translucent horns that resemble crystal prisms. Their horns refract light, casting mesmerizing patterns and spectrums. When they walk on their three toed feet, they leave behind a trail of glowing footprints that slowly fade. Volai have long leonine tails with a tuft of bioluminescent fur at the end. They range in size from as small and sure footed as a goat to as tall as elephants. Show your character encountering a Volai. Your piece must include your character and a Volai.
Prompt #4 - Leslie Everlake
Leslie Everlake is a transgender human man in his mid fifties with short cropped salt-and-pepper hair, brown skin, and a massive ice-white sword as tall as he is. He is one of the most lauded blacksmiths in the Paperverse, and he specializes in aurora based weapons. His Aurora Forge is extremely selective with the apprentices it takes on, but Everlake is always happy to receive short term help in exchange for advice, knowledge, or on occasion some of his apprentices’ pieces. The crystals on the surface are plentiful, but he always has need of the older and studier crystal found in the caves beneath the mountains. He has ongoing postings with the guild requesting help from adventurers to collect them. Show your character encountering Everlake or their journey fulfilling Everlake’s quest. Your piece must include your character and either Everlake or a scene during the quest.
