Welcome to the PaperDemon Art RPG, a series of art and writing challenges structured as an art role playing game to help motivate you to create. To get started with our Art RPG, you'll need to register your character. In this article we'll walk you through it step by step.
This challenge is the first of six Apprenticeship challenges to establish your character and learn the basic mechanics of the game.
Rewards
For participating in this challenge...
- You'll earn 30 XP
Note: There is no Ability Points reward for this challenge. You'll be introduced to AP rewards in future challenges.
About XP
XP is a reward you get for being active in the community. You'll earn it when you complete an art challenge, comment in the forums, or comment on an art entry.
When you level up, you'll earn Spirit Points which can be used to purchase Mystery Boxes.
Character Creation Requirements
You may create your character with either an Art submission or a Writing submission (not both).
Art

Draw a portrait sketch of your chosen character!

The portrait sketch should be art that you personally created. See art rules for more information.

The portrait should include the shoulders and head. Including more of the body is optional.

The artwork must not contain any mature content. (You are permitted to submit mature entries for other Art RPG challenges but this one specifically must be non-mature).

Character can be humanoid, anthropomorphic, quadrupedal, or any creature that can interact with others and manipulate objects. See the Characters guide for details on allowed species.

The portrait should be in full color so we can see the character's hair, eye, and skin color! Avoid dramatic lighting.

The portrait doesn't have to be perfect, don't over think it!

Write a brief bio for your character.

Submit your portrait to our site

Click Upload new submission at the bottom of the page and then choose art. Include the biography of your character in the description. Example.

After you upload your art, you'll be asked to submit it to the Create a character queue and be directed back to this page. At the bottom of this page, select your art and fill out the form to enter it into the queue and get your rewards.

Within a week, an admin from our team will process your request. You'll receive a private message when the process is complete which will include your character's unique id and a link to your new character sheet.

Writing

Write a written description of your chosen character!
- First, at the top of the chapter should be the basic character info form which includes character name, species, eye color, etc.

Below the basic character info, include a brief bio for your chosen character.

The writing should be work that you personally created.

Check the Character Bio Wiki for more detailed information as well as some hints and tips.

The form details the information we need-- you don't need to add more than a few words per answer if you're not ready to write extensively!

- Below that, describe your character in 100 words or more

The description should include details that match and elaborate on the features you fill out in the form (eye color, hair color, ect.)

Describe what style your character tends to wear and how they do their hair, if applicable.

Describe your character's physical form. Are they short? Are they muscular? Do they have pointed ears? Do they have fur?

Add some personal flair! Consider using language that not only describes your character but also gives you some insight into them as a character. Do they have a refined vocabulary? Try looking up some SAT words to add.

Submit your writing entry to our website and to the queue
- Click Upload new submission at the bottom of the page
- Choose writing
- Fill out the summary with a brief description. You can simply do "[My character's name] Biography" for the title.
- For Chapter 1 body, include your basic character info form, biography, and 100 word character description

Submit your work to the queue

After submitting your writing entry, a popup should appear prompting you to add it to the Create a Character queue. Click the green button which will take you back to this page.

Fill out the form at the bottom of this page, selecting your writing chapter.

Your character's element
Your character will be assigned a random elemental power. If you want to customize your element, read through the Elemental challenge in Part 3 of the apprenticeship challenges.
How many characters can you submit?
You may register multiple characters.
